Area Types in Informed Management Cleaning Software are collections of tasks. This means the same thing as room classifications in other software. Our cleaning software ships with over 300 area types pre-defined. These area types comprise over 3600 different tasks, probably an industry record. Additionally, another 540 tasks published by ISSA are included in their own library for your use.
Informed Management Cleaning Software makes it a simple matter to create unique, custom types whenever they are needed. Any area type can be copied and used as a starting point, and then tasks can be added or deleted. ISSA tasks can be added, or custom tasks easily created.
Some powerful and unique capabilities of Informed Management Cleaning Software:
- Tasks can be either item-based or area-based, increasing precision. Area-based tasks, such as most floor tasks, simply assume a certain (base) time per 1000 square feet. Item-based tasks assume a time per item. The assumption for average room size for each area type is adjustable—increasing precision of calculations for item-based tasks.
- Tasks can be assigned a frequency on any of the three routine shifts, or, it may have a project work frequency.
- Tasks also have five frequencies, corresponding to the cleanliness levels. These can be changed too.
- Tasks can be tucked under a “parent” task. This allows you to set up accurate multi-task processes, such as floor stripping, yet control them all with one set of frequency controls. It also allows you to precisely determine chemical usage.
- Task manipulation functions allow you to exchange, or swap out, one task for another, by building, floor or site.
- Task frequency settings can be stored and recalled, so you may play what-if games and recover the actual, or baseline, settings quickly.

Basics: The Easy Area Type Setup window is where frequencies are set. We believe we have the most powerful, intuitive design on the market to allow quick setting of all tasks in an area type to a cleanliness level, or to a custom, stored set of frequencies. The Advanced Area Type Setup window allows one to copy an area type and its tasks, as well as add ISSA tasks and custom tasks.The Create Area Types function allows the operator to combine a set of tasks from a pool of "use" tasks (such as office or patient room) with a set of tasks from the flooring material pool (such as VCT or VAT).
Mass-Change Frequencies: This tool allows you to change the cleaning frequency of all, or any subset, of tasks that have the same name. For example, say you are currently emptying waste containers every day and due to cutbacks you must cut this back to alternate days in hallways, offices and lobbies, but no where else. Rather than make you go to each space category and make the adjustments individually, Informed Cleaning Management Software lets you select a task, shift and new frequency, along with any space categories from a list and make the changes all at once, using only your mouse.
Mass-Change Tasks: Informed Cleaning Software has some very powerful tools. For instance, say you want to replace one task with a different task in some or all of your area types: Our cleaning software doesn’t make you painstaking create the task in each area type and then delete the existing tasks.
